(CMR) Jamaican dancehall artist Jah Cure, whose given name is Siccature Alcock, was sentenced to six years in prison in The Netherlands for attempted manslaughter on Tuesday, 22 March.
Jah Cure was charged in October after he was reportedly involved in a stabbing incident with a concert promoter, Nicardo ‘Papa' Blake. He was arrested following the incident in Dam Square in the city center of Amsterdam on October 1, 2021.
The prosecution said that the stabbing incident was preceded by an argument over monies owed to Jah Cure for a concert he performed at days before at Melkweg. Jah Cure reportedly sent several threatening messages to the promoter.
This is not the first time that the artist will spend time behind bars. In April 1999, he was found guilty of and sentenced to 15 years in prison for rape. He was released from jail on parole in July 2007, after serving eight years of the sentence.
