(CMR) Marlon Porter (37) was sentenced to thirteen-years in jail after being found guilty of rape, assault and causing harassment and distress during his trial late last year.
The woman sustained a four hour order after he took her to a remote location and sexually attacked her in 2016. During the trial, the victim told the court that she had been offered a lift by Porter, whom she knew casually, shortly after midnight on the night in question. But instead of taking her home, he took her to the end of Sparky Drive, an area that she said she did not know. He assaulted here there and repeatedly raped her before abandoning her half-naked at the scene of the attack at around 4:00 a.m. Government workers eventually found the woman half naked and took her to the hospital for treatment.
The sentence was handed down via video link from the UK where Judge Alastair Malcolm said that aggravating factors including taking the victim to a remote location and his previous convictions for violence against women. Porter denied the charges and claims that the women agreed to sex in exchange for money. The jury found him guilty on all counts.
Porter is from Jamaica but there was no mention of a deportation recommendation.
