(CMR) A stabbing incident last night in the Boartswain Bay area of West Bay has left construction worker, Errol Grey (42), a Jamaican national dead from a stab wound to his chest.
Police have confirmed that the 42-year-old man was pronounced dead after four persons were injured in a domestic dispute incident shortly after 10:30 last night. CMR exclusive sources indicate that some of the injured included two children of the female companion.
Police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to the residence after it was reported that four (4) persons known to each other had been stabbed during an altercation.
Police officers and Emergency Medical Services attended the location and assisted a woman and two minors who had serious stab wounds and lacerations. A search was conducted and the fourth person, a man, was found unresponsive nearby with a stab wound to his chest. Grey residing in West Bay, was later pronounced dead.
Police have indicated the woman and two children were taken to hospital. They are currently in serious condition, with non-life threatening injuries.
Our sources further indicate that the female companion has told authorities that the Grey's deadly stab wound was self-inflicted and that he fell on the knife in an attempt to take his own life. Other sources have indicated that the couple had a volatile history and were “often known to have domestic disputes”.
The opposing viewpoint is that he stabbed her children first and she then stabbed him in return. Despite the volatile relationship other sources have indicated that she had threatened to call the police to report that her children were being subjected to abuse at the hands of the deceased. What is confirmed is that last night the parties had been drinking before matters got out of hand and took a tragic turn.
We understand the woman in the incident is from Nicaragua and has a total of five children. Two of her children are with a East End man that she was married to. Grey, who is married in Jamaica, leaves behind two children of his own.
In related news, his employer did not have the required insurance for him and is now scrambling to find funds to repatriate the body back to Jamaica.
