(CMR) Temperatures are expected to drop in the Cayman Islands this weekend as a cold front moves across the islands. Temperatures could fall to the low 70’s °F (21°C). Winds will be northeast at 5 knots. Seas will be smooth with wave heights less than 2 feet.
Cold weather is expected in the Caribbean as the US expects frigid temperatures this weekend. The coldest times are expected to be Saturday and Sunday.
A southward plunge of Arctic air is expected to spread to Florida, sending temperatures in the Sunshine State tumbling to the lowest levels in years there.
AccuWeather forecasters warn that both crops and decades-old records could be in jeopardy from this frigid blast. Temperatures in some areas could reach their lowest marks in more than 80 years, while other locations could break daily record low readings. The cold weather could cause iguanas to fall out of trees in some places.
The weather in Cayman will not be that cold, so temperatures are not expected to affect iguanas here.
Freeze watches were which were issued Thursday afternoon for parts of southern Georgia and northern Florida, including around the Jacksonville area, were upgraded to freeze warnings on Friday morning.
