(CMR) A Cayman Islands Airport Authority Cayman Brac employee, Nathaniel DaCosta, has been arrested on suspicion of possession of ganja with intent to supply.
CMR understands that the 25-year-old young man is an air traffic controller trainee at the Charles Kirkconnell International Airport in Cayman Brac and was arrested yesterday on a afternoon domestic flight to Cayman Brac. Sources indicate that he had the drugs strapped to his body.
A female companion travelling with him was also briefly detained for questioning but has since been released. DaCosta was bailed last night.

The Assistant Collector of Customs in charge of the Customs Narcotics Enforcement Team has announced the arrests of two Cayman nationals at the Owen Roberts International Airport on Monday, 16th July for possession of ganja and being concerned in the possession of ganja.
Assistant Collector Tina Campbell said that a 25-year-old male was departing on a Cayman Airways flight to Cayman Brac when he was intercepted at the airport security checkpoint where officers conducted a body search and discovered two packages taped to his legs.
The two packages contained a vegetable matter resembling ganja. Following the arrest of the male passenger officers arrested a 22-year-old female for suspicion of being concerned in the possession of ganja. The male and the female were booked and bailed to return pending further investigations.
CMR is aware that the 22-year-old travel companion is the girlfriend of DaCosta, Evelyn Ebanks who also was bailed and has returned to the Brac.

Please be advised that the Cayman Islands Airports Authority confirms that one of its young employees, an Air Traffic Control Trainee recruited in September 2017 and based at the Charles Kirkconnell International Airport in Cayman Brac, was arrested on Monday evening, 16 July 2018, while traversing a Baggage Screening Checkpoint at the Owen Roberts International Airport in Grand Cayman.
The employee was arrested on suspicion of “Possession of Ganja with Intent to Supply”. In the interim, the Employee has been relieved from working his Roster at the Air Traffic Control Tower at CKIA.
