(CMR) The first reported death of Hurricane Dorian has been confirmed as eight-year-old boy Lachino McIntosh. Reports are that he drowned as his family attempted to move during the storm.
Dorian pounded various islands in the Bahamas as posts reached CMR via social media.
According to has been reported by local news outlets Eyewitness News and Bahamas Press his sister is also missing and feared dead.
The boy’s grandmother, Ingrid McIntosh, told Eyewitness News in the Bahamas that her grandson died on Abaco Island.
McIntosh said her daughter told her that she found the body of her son, who she believed drowned in the rising waters.
“All I can say is that my daughter called from Abaco and said that her son — my grandson — is dead. That’s it. I don’t know what really happened. I think she said he drowned,”

Yesterday, Bahamian officials said they feared there would be several deaths from the storm.
Hurricane Dorian remains over Grand Bahama almost stationary as a Category 5 storm. It is still packing winds of 165 mph and moving at 1 mph.
Residents of Florida and the Carolinas continue to prepare for this major hurricane as they hope it will remain offshore.
