(CMR) Local government worker Monty Lee Larrew (40) passed away unexpectedly on Friday after complications from a routine appendectomy.
Sources indicate that the American, originally from Colorado, recently returned from his hometown where he had the surgery. He was taken to the HSA emergency room after falling ill on Saturday and efforts were being made to air ambulance him overseas. Unfortunately, he passed away from a heart attack before that was possible.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist with the repatriation of the body and funeral expenses. CMR has been informed that Larrew worked in the Education Department in Student Services as an educational psychologist for at least eight years. He also worked on the Brac for about four years as a member of the specialist support team. Whilst here he introduced an early-intervention literacy program that was adopted across all government primary schools. One of his colleagues shared that he helped many students during his time there.
A celebration of Monty's life will be held Friday, August 16, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the Kiowa County Community Building in Eads in Colorado. He is the son of Randy and Fran Larrew of Eads. An obituary guestbook has also been set up by the funeral home.
