(CMR) The Central Caribbean Marine Institute (CCMI) is celebrating World Ocean Day in 2022 with a special Reefs Go Live broadcast at the Camana Bay Cinema on Wednesday, 8 June.
CCMI invites members of the public, tourists, school groups, and ocean enthusiasts to join us for this FREE event. Seating is limited at the Cinema; registration is required. Virtual registrations are also available.
“The dive team in Little Cayman will take us underwater to explore the coral reefs, discuss what it means when a reef is healthy, and share with us what CCMI is doing to help keep our reefs healthy in the Cayman Islands. We'll also learn how we can all do our part to ensure there are many healthy reefs for the future,” CCMI stated in a release.
In addition to the Reefs Go Live event at the Camana Bay Cinema, CCMI is also offering a lecture titled “State of the Reefs & Healthy Reef Report Card Release” on Thursday, 9 June.
This will be held at Southern Cross Club (Little Cayman) or virtually from anywhere! Persons can register at: https://donate.reefresearch.org/reefhealth2022.
The public can join CCMI's Research Technician, Matt Doherty, to get the first look at the results from last year's surveys of Little Cayman's reefs, the current health status of these reefs, and the long-term trends through the data analysis.
