(CMR) Cayman has two junior athletes ranked among the top ten U18 200-meter track and field athletes worldwide, with Jaiden Reid (16) currently ranked number one and Davonte Howell ranked eighth on the World Athletics website.
Reid ran a personal best of 20.91 earlier this month at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica, making him the only athlete under 18 years old to go below 21 seconds so far this season. The Jamaica College student is also ranked 7th in the 100 with a time of 10.59s, while his teammate Howell is ranked 11th in the 100m with a time of 10.66s.
Howell ran a time of 21.78s in the 200m last month at the Dunbar HS Track in Fort Myers, Florida. Although he is currently in eighth position worldwide, Howell is a top performer in that age group in the US as none of the other top 10 U18 200-meter athletes are from the US.
Reid will run the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m Relay in the CARIFTA games next month, while Howell will run the 100m and 4x100m Relay.
