“Imagine government traveling lavishing to Monaco when they are not even properly taking care of their own people in need”
(CMR) The Cayman Islands Government and several high-level civil servants are in Monaco at the Six Annual Monaco Yacht Show.
Numerous photos are emerging showing the wonderful events and sponsorships. A group of Cayman organizations donated US$40,000. It is unclear if the government contributed to that particular donation.
However, concerns have arisen over what appears to be a lavish vacation for some according to political critics.
Provenance Properties Cayman Islands co-sponsored a yacht party with the Cayman Islands Government welcoming Prince Albert of Monaco, government officials, Dart representatives and guests for an evening aboard The Only One Yacht.
Some have been critical that our government is spending an exorbitant amount of money on a lavish trip that will net few real results that will benefit the people of the Cayman Islands.
One critic said:
“The government tab for this Monaco trip appearse to be substantial while we have homeless people here, elderly people that need attending to and NGO's that are faltering. Imagine we have kids at government schools that have no lunch money.”
The show is considered the must-go event for the end of summer for the filthy rich with Fobes Magazine saying:
“Monaco Yacht Show’s other attractions—impossibly sexy speedboats, helicopters, personal submarines, limousines and luxury cars—will impress even the most jaded billionaire.“
“When it comes to celebrating the end of the summer season in high style, it’s pretty hard to compete with the Monaco Yacht Show that takes place at the end of September. The superyachts on display will be some of the newest, largest and most expensive “portable private islands” on Earth.”
