(CMR) Several security guards were attacked last night at the George Town Yacht Club with one being left critical after being run over by a car.
Police confirmed that they responded to a report of an altercation shortly after 8:45 pm Sunday evening. They were informed that a group of young people were asked to leave the club's swimming pool and retaliated against the security guards.
A security guard had approached four young males who were using a pool facility that was not open to the public at that time, police said. They soon returned with two others in tow.
One guard was left with minor injuries after being struck with a rock. CMR exclusive sources indicate that during the incident one guard hid. However, it was the supervisor who showed up to do his rounds that was then attacked with a rock and “knocked out cold”. He received treatment for his injuries but was since released from the hospital.
The second guard tried to offer him some assistance and was then hit by a car and remains in critical care at the hospital.
The matter is currently under investigation and police are asking anyone with any information to come forward. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have seen the males at the location earlier in the afternoon/evening is asked to contact George Town CID at 949-4222.
