(CMR) A Jamaican national, Rainer Blackwood, living on Cayman Brac has cut her boyfriend's throat last night. CMR sources indicate that the man may have been sleeping when the attack occurred.
Police are reporting tust before 5:00 am yesterday, 23 October, police and other emergency services were dispatched to a report of an assault GBH that took place on Legend Drive, Cayman Brac.
It is believed that a woman used a knife and stabbed a man known to her twice. A struggle ensued during which the man also received injuries to both his hands. We understand that a housemate heard the struggle and was able to render some assistance.
The man was taken to the Faith Hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.
The 29-year-old-woman residing on Cayman Brac was arrested on suspicion of assault GBH. She remains in custody pending further investigations.
This matter is being investigated by police. CMR sources also indicate that there was another attack on this same victim in December last year related to this woman. That attack was carried out by another man on the Brac. Apparently she was never charged in connection with the incident and the alleged attacker accused in the matter left the Cayman Islands and was later killed in Jamaica.
UPDATE: She has been formally charged with Attempted Murder and Wounding with Intent and is due to appear in court today. After her court hearing she was remanded into custody and id due to appear in Grand Court on November 9.
