(CMR) Devon Scott (45) of Cayman Brac has been charged with threats to kill, two counts of damage to property, disorderly conduct at a police station, possession of cocaine, and possession of ganja, following an incident that took place on Thursday, 21 October.
The incident took place at Pearl Avenue in Cayman Brac, where the police responded to a report of a disturbance at the location, where a man, known to the victim made threats to set fire to the residence. He also caused damage to the property prior to the arrival of the police.
When the police arrived at the location, Scott attempted to evade them and resisted arrest. However, the officer managed to subdue and arrest him. A search of his person resulted in the recovery of a white substance believed to be cocaine as well as ganja. He was further arrested in relation to the drugs recovered from him.
Being concerned for the safety of the victim, Scott remained in custody pending further investigations into the incident. During his stay at the Cayman Brac Police Station holding facility, he caused damage to the cell he was occupying. He was also further arrested in relation to this offense and subsequently transported to Grand Cayman where he was kept at the Cayman Islands Detention Centre.
Scott appeared in court in George Town on Monday 25 October.
