Ronald “Foots” Kynes, the 63 year old controversial artist, has been formally charged almost 3 months after being arrested for “displaying obscene artwork” on his property in Cayman Brac.
One of his sculptures depicted two women performing a sexual act, stirred public debate and was eventually destroyed.
He was has been charged under Schedule 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code (2017 Revision) in relation to the suspected breach of Section 157(1)(a) of the Penal Code (2017 Revision), for displaying an obscene object for public exhibition, intending to corrupt morals.
He’s expected to be in court on Thursday 26 October at the Aston Rutty Center, in Cayman Brac.
Many have publicly supported his freedom of speech rights under the constitution. However, many others who reside on the Brac indicated this has “been a long time coming.”
