(CMR) The Cayman Islands Air Show scheduled for this weekend has been postponed due to expected poor weather conditions.
Governor Martyn Roper confirmed that the show has been postponed on CMR's Cold Hard Truth on Tuesday, 31 May, but a new date has not yet been decided.
“They need to practice the day before; with the weather being so bad, they can't. And also the parachuters, you can't do that if the wind is at a certain level. We have to put safety first,” Governor Roper explained.
He said that he expects it to be a fantastic spectacle when the show is held.
“We will have a combination of civilian and military aircraft. I think it will be really exciting. When it happens, it will be a fantastic spectacle,” Mr. Roper said.
The Governor said he desires to make the air show an annual event again after its 20-year break.
New dates for the Air Show will be announced in the coming weeks, and updates will be shared on the Air Show website, CaymanAirShow.com, as well as the Air Show Facebook and Instagram pages.
