(CMR) The British Virgin Islands was rattled by a 5.17 magnitude earthquake on Wednesday (October 7).
According to the Puerto Rico Seismic Network the earthquake was felt around 2:30 pm.
The epicentre of the tremor was 51.64 kilometres south-southeast of Virgin Gorda and 59.76 kilometres southeast of Road Town, Tortola.
Similarly on Sunday a magnitude 5.2 earthquake shook sections of Trinidad and Tobago.
There has been an increase in seismic activity in the region since the start of 2020.
