(CMR) A government bus driver, Maynard Myles, is being accused by eyewitnesses of assaulting several Cayman Islands Further Education Centre (CIFEC) female students on the school bus this afternoon in the vicinity of Aspiration Drive in George Town.
Sources indicate that one of the students was walking on the bus changing her seat when the driver became irate and pulled over on the side of the road. The assault is alleged to have taken place at that time. A female bus warden can be seen attempting to separate the parties and stop the assault.
However, some persons indicate they believe the students started the incidents which eventually got out of hand:
Several teachers in a car came upon the incident and contacted the police. The bus had to be driven by police escort with all of the students on board to the George Town Police Station.
The two students, their mothers, and the driver gave police reports. All students had to remain on the bus until the process was completed. Myles, a former police officer, was spoken to and then permitted to continue on his route taking the children home.
