(CMR) Security officers at the Health Services Authority (HSA) have been placed on immediate required paid leave after an emergency meeting held late yesterday evening.
Apparently all 13 security HSA officers were asked to come in for a 5:20 p.m. meeting. Upon arrival they were individually escorted into the management office and given a letter from the Human Resources Manager, Brenda Riley. The letter states in part that.
“in order to facilitate an investigation into the security section it has been decided that it would be in the best interest of the Health Services Authority to place you on Required Leave effectively immediately.”
CMR has obtained a copy of the letter which has sent staff into a tailspin. The letter further indicates that certain restrictions are in place for the initial 30 day suspension period which can be extended until the investigation is completed. We understand that all persons are Caymanian and that the supervisor of security is currently on vacation.
“It's very odd that an entire security team can be replaced with the supervisor on leave and no one is in place to train the temporary workers”.
CMR has reached out to the HSA but at press time there had been no response as yet. We will update this story here once more information becomes available.
UPDATE: CMR sources indicate that the issue is a financial one regarding overtime!
