A domestic incident in North side has resulted in the death of a young man by his girlfriend.
Shortly after 5:20 p.m. we understand the fire and emergency services were dispatched by 911 Communications Centre to a residence on Union Street in North Side. We understand that during an argument the girlfriend allegedly stabbed her boyfriend in the neck and heart. He had difficulty breathing and was transported to Health Services Authority where he was pronounced dead.
Deceased is 23 year-old Azzan Sherieff from North Side a 2010 high school graduate. The condolences and comments have flooded his social media page. Sherieff was an avid fisherman and worked as a manager at a local charter boat company. He also won several fishing tournaments including the Brac Jackpot 2015 for his wahoo and dolphin catches.
In custody is Brianna Watler, 25 who has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. In an ironic twist he posted a photograph of her on social media in November expressing his unwavering love.
CMR sources indicated that the parties were at Rum Point earlier in the day and the young man made allegations of her being with someone else at that venue. The matter was escalating and they were encouraged to go home to calm things down. Evidently it escalated further at the residence.
Police have taken her to headquarters for questioning and to assist them further with the investigation and he has been transported to the hospital. The entire road remains blocked off by the RCIPS.
This is a developing story and we will update this story as more information becomes available.
