(CMR) At least one person is dead this morning following a vehicle crash in East End, according to police reports.
The RCIPS are asking motorists to avoid using Farm Road as they carry out their investigations. The road remains closed at this time. No additional details were provided.
However, CMR sources indicate that the fatality occurred in the early morning hours off John McLean Dr. The two person vehicle hit a tree and one female has died after both were thrown from the vehicle. The other male occupant was taken to the hospital and there are no updates on his condition at this time. We understand they are husband and wife.
It marks the first fatality on Cayman’s roads in 2018. CMR will update this story throughout the day as information becomes available.
POLICE UPDATE:
The police have now confirmed that a woman was pronounced dead at hospital following a crash in East End early Thursday morning.
In a release moments ago, the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) said a Subaru collided with a tree in in the vicinity of 179 Farm Road in East End.
Both occupants of the vehicle, a woman and man, were transported to Cayman Islands Hospital where the woman, age 28, was pronounced dead.
The man remains in the hospital in critical condition.
Anyone with any information about this accident is asked to call the Traffic and Roads Policing Unit.
