(CMR) Police have confirmed that dirt bike rider died in the early morning hours after a collision yesterday evening.
Details are that just after 6:00 pm yesterday, Sunday, 4 August, police and other emergency services were dispatched by 9-1-1 Communication Centre to a report of a motor vehicle collision in West Bay involving a dirt bike.
The rider lost control of the dirt bike when traveling northeast on Watercourse Road in the vicinity of Ruby Lane. He fell into the opposite lane and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
The rider was responsive at the scene and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Just before 2:00 am this morning, 5 August, he succumbed to his injuries.
The roadway has been closed between Hillandale drive and Alexandria Close for the duration of this morning while Traffic and Roads Policing Unit conducted their investigations.
Dirt bike riders have been a concern for some time now as many have complained about their risky behavior while riding with no protection. It has been noted multiple times on CMR's various social media forums that it was only a matter of time before someone succumbed to their injuries.
CMR understand the rider is an older man around the age of 55.
