(CMR) Chief Executive Officer of the Digicel Group Alexander Matuschka is dead, the telecommunications company has confirmed.
Antonia Graham, head of public relations for the Digicel Group, says Matuschka, 47, died suddenly yesterday while vacationing with his family in his native Germany.
He was appointed as group CEO in February.
Digicel is in mourning today following the sudden death of its Group CEO, Alex Matuschka von Greiffenclau.
He is survived by his wife Julia and three children.
Group Chairman Denis O'Brien said:
“No words can adequately express our sadness at Alex’s passing or our gratitude for having worked with him. Digicel has lost a committed, hard-working and exceptional Chief Executive. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know him on a personal level have lost a dear friend.”
Mr Matuschka joined Digicel early this year, taking over from former Digicel chief executive, Colm Delves.
