(CMR) A Department of Environmental Health employee, Donovan Wilson (“Sito”) (61), has been arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine according to Cayman Marl Road exclusive sources.
CMR understands that his Lookout Gardens, Bodden Town home off Vernice Bodden Drive was raided on Friday evening with drug task force, police dogs and helicopter all involved in the operation. Allegedly 1 kilo of cocaine was recovered by authorities.
We further understand he has lived at that residence for several years now and works DEH as a sanitation worker. Other sources indicate he has been a long serving employee of the Cayman Islands Government.
Sources close to Wilson have provided an alternative set of facts and indicate that Wilson had been having financial difficulties paying his rent and quite ironically was raided after the landlord called police on him.
Apparently, it was an ongoing dispute and Wilson had lodged complaints to the authorities that the landlord turned off his utilities because of the outstanding rent just earlier that day. The source offered up this food for thought:
“How can a man owe his landlord $400 and yet be found with a supply of cocaine? That makes no sense and sounds like a setup to me. This man has been an upstanding member of the community for over 30 years and has held down a good government. I seriously doubt he’s capable of this.”
They also have informed CMR that the drugs were found in a shared area of the house and not in Wilson’s room.
CMR has reached out to the RCIPS for additional comments on this arrest. This is a developing story and will be updated once more information is available.
