(CMR) The Anti-Corruption Unit has made the decision to charge Bruce Blake and Canover Watson, both formerly of the Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) after what they are calling a complex protracted investigation that has spanned over several years.
Blake, former CIFA Vice President, was charged with a total of five counts including false accounting, acquiring or retaining criminal property and secret commissions. Blake was arrested in late June 2017 and has always maintained his innocence.
Watson was charged with several criminal counts including secret commissions, transferring or retention of criminal property and false accounting. Watson was re-arrested shortly after Blake in July 2017; whilst still incarcerated for defrauding the governing in the CarePay fiasco.
They have both been bailed to appear in court on August 20, 2019.
