(CMR) Archie's Restaurant and Bar, located on Shedden Road, appears to have been shut down as of last week according to exclusive CMR sources because of ongoing liquor law violations among other things.
CMR social media followers will be well aware of the constant raids on the establishment by CBC/Immigration and police officers. It became someone of a running joke with posters wonder they simply did not shut the establishment down instead of constantly raiding it. It is alleged that the establishment has a record of arrests and clientele that engage in illicit activity including prostitution, gambling and drug use on the premises.
Sources indicate that the police closed the doors of the local bar on Thursday. We understand the license is in the name Constance Dixon (Ms. Consey) but her grandson may now be taking it over after getting approval from the respective authorities. The bar is said to be in need of extensive renovations before it could even be considered fit to re-open. Any new owner can expect to have to go through a rigorous process of convincing the respecting licensing agencies that it can operate without the existing issues.
Despite the closure, sources indicate the gambling has just moved to the tree in the same area. In related news, a local politician's son has purchased the property next door so residents in the area are hopeful for a rejuvenation.
