(CMR) A 5.7 magnitude earthquake has just been reported with the epicenter off the coast of Savannah Bight, Honduras this morning at 9:13 am. Reports are that it was felt in both Honduras and Belize.
The earthquake is expected to impact any poorly made buildings that might be close to the epicenter. However, since it was out to sea the damage on land should be minimal. The exact location which appears closest to La Ceiba, Honduras was 16.810°N and 85.920°W which 28 miles North of Savannah Bight.
Persons in Belize reported “moderate shaking” with others in Palmetto Bay, Roatan reporting no damage but that it “shook pretty good”. Persons in Guanaja also reported feeling it.
