(CMR) The Board of Directors of the Cayman Turtle Conservation and Education Centre said there has been an ongoing investigation following a petition by staff for the resignation of some members of the management team over “unfair treatment”.
This response comes from the board following a peaceful protest by employees on Friday. The employees said they had been waiting for months for the board to address their concerns.
In a release issued Monday, the Board confirmed the receipt of a signed letter of petition through the Ministry of Tourism. It said it has acted upon this letter by seeking mediation through the Cayman Islands Government Internal Audit Department, specifically through their Human Resources area of expertise.
“This request to the Internal Audit Department was met expeditiously and an investigation has been ongoing over the last six weeks,” the release stated.
The Board said the Internal Auditors have met with all staff members, including those who were a part of the peaceful protest.
“It is the Board’s understanding that the findings and recommendations of this report are imminent. The Board and the Executive Management are unable to make any further comments whilst an investigation is being conducted,” the release added.
