(CMR) The Blue Spot advocate Kent McTaggart catches a driver parked in a blue spot and posts the following on Facebook:
This vibrant young woman got out of this vibrant car after pulling into a handicap spot at Hurley’s (there were empty spaces available). As she walked away from her car that she left running, flashing and booming music with more 5 pound words than a sailor would be comfortable using in one sentence, I let her know she was parked in a Handicap spot and that without a placard she would get a ticket, I kindly suggested she move as I really didn’t want to report her. She proceeded to tell me to call the police and what I could do with myself, while adding even more 5 pound words on top of the explicit music that she was so graciously sharing with everyone else in the parking lot.
Needless to say, I dialed 949-4222 gave a detailed report, 3 minutes into this call the officer on the phone puts me on hold and transfers me to 911, where I get all the same questions again. While on the phone, standing behind the car, the energetic, flowery young woman gets in her car and reverses into me, pushing me out of the way, at that point I decided to stand my ground, and she continues to hit me with her car until she creates enough to maneuver back and forth until she was able to make a hasty exit.
In total I spent 7 minutes on the phone with the RCIPS whom seemed more interested in getting my details and hearing the story twice than actually attending to the princess in her flirty ride for her transgressions.
McTaggart who has a special needs son has been leading the fight for people to respect the handicapped spots for their intended purpose. Posters can share various photos and videos of violators.
No word from the RCIPS if the person was actually ticketed.
