(CMR) It is being reported in the Bahamas press that the government has requested 200 body bags for Abaco, Bahamas in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian.
The news report shared:
“Piles of bodies are being left alongside the road and in the bushes of Abaco making the island uninhabitable. With no water, power, food and proper sanitation, widespread looting has taken place and has forced a local militia to form to protect their property.”

They confirmed that the Bahamian Cabinet has requested the body bags in order to begin identifying and processing the deceased.
While the official death toll from Hurricane Dorian remains at 23 for now, Health Minister Dr. Duane Sands projected that the final count will be “staggering”, as he revealed that additional morticians are being flown into Abaco and Grand Bahama to embalm the bodies that authorities have limited capacity to accommodate.
Life finding dogs have been brought into the islands to assist with recovery efforts.
Dr. Sands said the government will bring in additional refrigerated coolers to properly store the dead. The island had a population of under 18,000 in the 2010 census.
There have also been some instances of looting as well.
