(CMR) Thursday proved to be a busy evening for the RCIPS with a reported robbery in George Town and an assault in West Bay; both within an hour of each other.
Shortly after 10:00 pm on Thursday, 19 December, officers responded to a report of a robbery at an address off Spruce Lane in George Town. A man was in the parking lot of an apartment complex when he was approached by an unknown male who brandished a handgun and demanded cash. The culprit then approached and robbed another man who was in a vehicle at the location before fleeing the scene with a quantity of cash and a mobile phone.
No shots were fired and neither of the victims was injured. The suspect is described as being about 5’7” tall, of slim build, and was dressed in all black and wearing a mask.
The matter is currently under investigation and anyone with any information or who may have seen something suspicious in the area on Thursday is asked to contact George Town CID at 949-4222.
Earlier that evening, At about 9:00 pm, officers responded to a report of a serious assault at an address off Captains Joe and Osbert Road in West Bay. It was reported that two men known to each other were involved in an altercation, when one of the men struck the other several times in the face before leaving the location. Emergency services attended the location and the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment for his injuries. It was later determined that he had suffered a fractured jaw.
