(CMR) A second Cayman construction worker visiting his home country Jamaica for vacation has been killed. Dervin Jones (43) and his brother Sheldon Jones (40), both from Westmoreland, were shot and killed between midnight and 5:30 Tuesday morning, 4 January.
Jones was killed less than 12 hours after Romel Hamm, another construction worker on vacation in Jamaica, was killed Monday evening in Manchester. Hamm was reportedly killed during a robbery at a bar.
Police are investigating the motive behind the killing of the brothers in Carawina in Westmoreland. Jones was reportedly staying at his home in Pittersfield, Westmoreland.
According to a family friend, Jones was visiting Jamaica for the first time in three years. He reportedly left Grand Cayman on December 24 and his spouse to spend the holidays with family, including his four children.
The family friend said Jones, who was excited to return home, almost missed his flight. He remembers him as a humble person.
