(CMR) Jamaica late Wednesday night (August 27 ) recorded another double digit spike in the COVID-19 cases with the country's tally now at 1,804.
65 of the new cases are currently under investigation, with seven being contacts of confirmed cases.
Following the spike in cases, at least two hospitals have reported that they reached their bed capacities on the COVID-19 wards.
This revelation comes just days after the minister with responsibility for health rubbished claims bed spaces were running low, indicating that the country had sufficient capacity.
In reaction to Jamaica's spike in cases the United Kingdom has issued a travel advisory to its citizens against all non-essential travel to Jamaica.
“The FCO is not advising those already travelling in Jamaica to leave at this time. You should follow the advice of the local authorities on how best to protect yourself and others, including any measures that they bring in to control the virus,” the office told its citizens.
