(CMR) Another blossom gifting pyramid scheme has gone bust leaving people asking for the police to intervene. However, exclusive CMR sources have indicated those that did not heed the numerous warnings will not be rescued by the police.
The scheme goes by many names but the foundation remains the same. People invest a relatively small amount and expect to at least double their payout with the payout amount increasing each week.
One report is that police were notified that Tasha Monterroso (42) was spearheading one of these family and friends gifting schemes and has since left the jurisdiction to Honduras on a boat leaving people high and dry. The boat comes from Honduras and sells seafood here before returning. Participants are now claiming she returned on that vessel last week Sunday.
There have been numerous attempts by people to get their money back after they were unable to recruit enough people interested in joining the blessing circle. As CMR explained earlier these schemes are categorized as pyramid schemes because they rely on a large participant base and a constant supply of new individuals being brought into “the circle”.
When it becomes impossible to recruit new people, which is inevitable, the pyramid will collapse leaving people without any means to be paid back their money. People were promised a sizable return on an initial investment of some $400-500. Some invested multiple “hands” into the scheme.
Now, CMR is aware that several groups have fallen apart in spectacular fashion whilst the police have indicated that an FBI investigation into someone overseas is actually underway as well. Despite the earlier warnings, many investors were convinced their group would be different and they would come out as a winner in this game of Russian roulette.
In this latest one, persons can be seen asking for their money back. In one instance a person is asked to be added to the group only to be told “we don't have no group chat to avoid any investigation.” She goes on to say that she will not be going anywhere soon. However, well-placed sources now confirmed she in Honduras.
The implication that it could be investigated is a bit of a new twist as we had previously shared that some had claimed to have contacted the RCIPS to confirm this was not illegal and has the blessings of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority. However, as CMR's investigative team has previously shared it was impossible that any proper channels would have given their blessing for such a scheme. At the very least they are seen as gambling which remains illegal in the Cayman Islands.
Despite the warnings, the appeal of a quick payday was too much to resist.
People are accusing Monterroso of taking the money and sending it overseas to her family. One person shared that she took $1,200 from one of their family members.
Monterroso does indicate at one point that she was attempting to obtain a “loan to pay everyone back” and that she was “stressed to the max”. In another message, she shared that she's trying to sell her car in order to pay people back. Apparently her employer had given her some pay advances but ultimately it was too many people that were owed many. It appears that she lost her job as a result of the fiasco and people were threatening her about getting their money back.
From all indications people who had the most to lose were the ones who invested their money and no claim that they have children to fee with “absolutely no money”.
Ironically people who found that other blessing circles were not going well still messaged her attempting to join hers. She does confirm to them that her group will be different because they are “honest and respectful people” who are happy to give receipts. Despite these claims of honestly she then shares that the money was passed along to someone else who was in charge of the group. The woman she identifies as “Suzette Morrison”. There was no mention previously of this arrangement or person. However, she did mention some other names leaving everyone now skeptical about who was really running this group.

It is highly unlikely that the police will intervene after people were willing participants. However, we await confirmation from them if any of these matters are under active investigation.
CMR's investigative team is also working on another story regarding one out of East End that erupted last weekend.
