(CMR) A nine-year-old boy was killed after being abducted during a carjacking in St. James, Jamaica, on Thursday morning.
Reports are that shortly after 9 o'clock, the boy was traveling in a car driven by his mother on the Tucker main road. The woman slowed down to navigate a pothole when gunmen ambushed the vehicle.
According to local news reports, the men dragged the woman from her car, hit her in the face, and drove off with her son. His body was later found in the abandoned vehicle with his throat slashed on Irwin Boulevard.
Reports are that the mother has since been placed in protective custody.
Several Jamaicans expressed shock at the gruesome killing on Thursday, with many questioning the motive behind killing a child. The boy was reportedly autistic.
