(CMR) An eight-year-old boy was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting while watching a game of football in Clarendon, Jamaica, on Sunday.
Xavier Phillips, also known as “Bojo,” was reportedly spending time with his grandmother when tragedy struck.
According to local news reports, at around 7:40 am, a Toyota car pulled up at the field where residents were playing football when two men who were occupants of the vehicle alighted and started to fire shots. The men left in the waiting motorcar.
Following the shooting, Xavier and two men were found riddled with multiple bullets. They were rushed immediately to the hospital, where the child succumbed to his injuries. One man has been released while the other remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Several persons have condemned the killing of a young child by these criminals. The police continue investigations.
