(CMR) A stabbing incident at Lillie's Bar and Restaurant has left one man dead and another one hospitalized in serious condition with a third possibly facing serious criminal charges. The entire Cayman community is left in shock at another senseless loss of life at a location now being called a hotspot for violence.
As details begin to emerge one family is left mourning the loss of their young son. What appeared to initially be two unrelated incidents was actually the first incident spilling over into the streets of the Cayman Islands.
Police have confirmed that just after 3:30 a.m. today, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to a report of a stabbing incident that took place at the at Lillie's at the Strand on Canal Point Road.
One man that was involved in the incident was stabbed and was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital by a private vehicle. He was later pronounced dead by the attending doctor. Deceased is Recordo Lionel Pars (27) and now arrested for his stabbing death is Mason Bryan (27).
CMR eyewitnesses at the scene have said the incident was over a girl.
Police carried out subsequent inquires have led investigators to the arrest of Bryan at an address in George Town on suspicion of murder. He has been taken in custody where he will remain, pending further investigation.
Additionally, police are also investigating two other incidents that took place at the location around the same time as the fatal stabbing. One man was assaulted and received a wound to his head. He attended the hospital for treatment and is believed to have non-life-threatening injuries.
The third incident is a motor vehicle collision involving a white Honda Civic that is believed to have sped away from the parking lot of the Strand on Canal Point Drive and collided with a wall on West Bay Road. The driver of the vehicle, who is believed to be the only occupant was trapped and was extricated from the vehicle by the Cayman Islands Fire Service. He was transported by Ambulance to the hospital for treatment and is believed to have sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries
A Major Incident Room has been established and the matter is currently being investigated. Detectives are appealing for witnesses who were at the location at the time of these incidents. Witnesses are being encouraged to contact the Major Incident Room at 649-2930.
