(CMR) Police are investigating damages to five vehicles and the theft of three boat engines from the Customs and Border Control (CBC) compound on Kirkconnell Street on Cayman Brac over the weekend.
Reports from the RCIPS are that shortly after 9.00 am, Monday, 5 June, police responded to a report of a break-in and theft at the CBC compound.
It was reported that at around midday, Saturday, June 3, all vehicles and assets were contained and securely locked in the CBC compound. When staff returned at about 8:57 am, Monday, June 5, they observed damage to a section of the chain-link fence surrounding the compound. Further checks revealed damage to five vehicles and a storeroom door, and three boat engines that were subjects of investigations were missing.
The boat engines that were stolen from three separate vessels included; two Yamaha Indro 40HP, and an Evin Ride 15HP engine.
The matter is currently under investigation by Cayman Brac Police, and anyone with any information or who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident is asked to contact 948-0331.
