(CMR) Former British Virgin Islands Premier Andrew Fahie is now the only defendant fighting narcotics and money laundering charges after former Ports Authority Managing Director Oleanvine Maynard indicated she will plead guilty. Fahie was charged along with Maynard and her son in a major operation last year.

Maynard's son Kadeem Maynard was the first to indicate that he intended to plead guilty. His mother later followed.
Fahie and his then managing port director were arrested by US federal authorities for conspiring to import cocaine into the United States and money laundering last year while in Miami for a Seatrade Global 2022 cruise convention.
Following his arrest, Fahie demanded his immediate release from U.S. custody, claiming he has immunity from prosecution because he is the elected, constitutional head of government of the British overseas territory. That request was denied, and he is expected to stand trial on July 17 in the court’s Miami Division.
Fahie’s attorney, Theresa Van Vliet, filed an unopposed motion last November, asking for the trial to be delayed, as federal prosecutors had not yet finished producing their evidence to the defense and had not identified a confidential informant who played a central role in the investigation.
