(CMR) Fifteen athletes will represent the Cayman Islands in the 2023 Special Olympics World Games, which will be held in Berlin, Germany, from 12-27 June.
The athletes, who have been in training for the last several months, will participate in track and field, swimming, and powerlifting events.
Premier Hon. Wayne Panton, Her Excellency Governor Jane Owen, and Minister for Youth, Sports, Culture and Heritage, Hon. Bernie Bush, met with the delegation at (where) recently to congratulate them on their achievements.
“As a founder of the Cayman Islands Special Olympics Foundation, I have a special connection to the athletes and the organization. I wish this year’s team the best as they represent our country, their families, and themselves”, Minister Bush stated.

Minister Bush will accompany the delegation to Berlin to participate in the Opening Ceremony and support the team in the first events. A charity event raised $150,000 for Special Olympics Cayman last month.
