(CMR) The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) is investigating reports that the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Math Paper 2, which was written today, was leaked.
In a brief release this afternoon, CXC said the matter was of great concern, and it would make a definitive statement once the investigation is completed. CXC noted that this matter is being treated with the highest urgency.
According to Searchlight newspaper, the exam was leaked to several pupils in St Vincent before the exam. The newspaper said it obtained proof of images of CSEC Mathematics Paper 2 pages that were shared on a messaging app the night before the exam and were seen by students from at least two secondary schools.'
Meantime, the Department of Education Services (DES) said it is awaiting the outcome of the Caribbean Examination Council's (CXC's) investigation into concerns that the CSEC Mathematics Paper 2 was breached in some Caribbean countries.
“While at this point there is no report that there was a breach here in the Cayman Islands, we are deeply concerned about these allegations and their implications for students who sat the mathematics exam. We will be closely monitoring the situation, and we will update the relevant candidates as soon as a decision is made on the way forward by CXC,” DES Director Mark Ray assures.
