(CMR) Parents can now check their eligibility and apply for Early Childhood Assistance Programme (ECAP) funding for their children through a new online portal launched by The Ministry of Education.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) launched the first phase of the MOE Applications portal, a central hub for accessing a range of educational services, last week.
“This new portal will simplify the ECAP application process for our Caymanian parents by allowing them to access, complete, and submit application forms at any time using their mobile phone or computer,” commented MOE Acting Chief Officer, Ms. Lyneth Monteith.
The portal also features links to the Education Council Scholarship applications site and will expand shortly to allow persons/entities to apply to register educational institutions.
“Whether you are seeking early childhood funding assistance for your Caymanian child or looking to register an educational institution, there is nothing more time-consuming than having to download, print, fill out, scan, and email an application form to the relevant entity,” the Acting Chief Officer continued.
The development of the portal is a collaboration between the Ministry of Education, the eGovernment (eGov) Unit, Computer Services Department, and Survey Monkey Apply.
Director of eGovernment, Mr. Ian Tibbetts, said, “Education is fundamental to Cayman’s success. It was a pleasure for the eGov team to provide project management guidance and support to the Ministry of Education in our efforts to bring digital government to life.”
Phase one of the project features ECAP online funding applications. The completed application form must be accompanied by an electronic copy of the child's birth certificate, an official letter from Workforce Opportunities & Residency Cayman (WORC) acknowledging the child's right to be Caymanian, a copy of the parent's Government issued ID, and proof of income.
Once the application is submitted, the ECCE Unit will process applications to ensure all the required information is included. The application will then go through an oversight process. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their applications via email.
