(CMR) The people of the Cayman Islands are preparing to celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, who will be crowned alongside The Queen Consort at a ceremony at Westminister Abbey, London on Saturday, May 6.
The Islands will commemorate the Coronation with a special family-focused celebration to be held on Cardinall Avenue, George Town in Grand Cayman, on a public holiday Monday, May 8, from 4 to 8 p.m.
The event is being hosted by Celebrate Cayman, the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture and Heritage, and the George Town Revitalisation Initiative.
“The ascension of a new monarch is a historic event and the Cayman Islands as a United Kingdom Overseas Territory will honor His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty the Queen Consort in a way that is true to our country’s culture,”Celebrate Cayman Chairman Alfonso Wright stated.
“Fellowship, food as well as music, and entertainment will be available for all to enjoy, along with a special fireworks display. It will be a wonderful opportunity for families to spend time together as we mark this momentous occasion,” he added
