(CMR) Three people were arrested on Saturday, 29 April, after a loaded gun was found at a Bodden Town residence during the execution of a search warrant by police officers.
The RCIPS said the residence was occupied by two men and a woman when the loaded handgun was recovered. All three persons, a 43-year-old man from Bodden Town, a 44-year-old woman from Bodden Town, and a 20-year-old man from Bodden Town, were then arrested on suspicion of possession of an unlicensed firearm.
The 43-year-old man has since been formally charged with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm, Ammunition, and Ganja. He is expected to appear in court today, 1 May. The other two persons have now been bailed pending further investigation.
During a further search of the residence, a significant quantity of cash in both Cayman Islands dollars and US dollars was recovered, with documentation suggesting that the source of the cash was illegal gambling.
The 44-year-old woman of the Bodden Town address was further arrested on suspicion of illegal gambling, while the 43-year-old man was further arrested on suspicion of possession of ganja following the recovery of a quantity of ganja found during the search.
