(CMR) A man who seriously wounded his brother during a dispute outside their homes in George Town last year has been sentenced to three years in prison.
Fabian George Wallace was arrested in March 2022 after cutting his brother across the ear and face with a machete, causing a deep laceration across the left side of his face.
Reports are that the police were called to an address at Ella Ray Gardens, George Town, where they observed a man with a large laceration to the head. Emergency services attended the location and transported the man to the Cayman Islands Hospital for treatment.
Officers conducted a search of the area and located Wallace, who was carrying a machete and a knife, nearby.
Wallace pleaded guilty to the charge of wounding with intent following his arrest. He, however, told the court that it started out as self-defense, but he took things too far.
Justice Cheryll Richards sentenced Wallace, who attended court via Zoom from His Majesty Prison Services.
