(CMR) A woman was robbed of her handbag by a man on a bicycle as she walked along Seymour Road in George Town on Friday, 17 March.
Police said around 11:30 a.m., police received a report of a robbery in the vicinity of the cement factory on Seymour Road, George Town.
The victim, a 40-year-old woman from George Town, was walking along Seymour Road when a man on a bicycle rode up to her and grabbed her blue handbag from off her shoulder, and brandished a knife. On seeing the knife, the woman released her bag, and the man rode off with the bag toward North Sound Road.
The woman called out for help to other persons in the vicinity, but no one was able to help her at the time. Her bag contained a sum of money and other personal belongings.
The woman described the man as short, dark complexion, plaited short hair, and a small beard under his chin. He was wearing jean shorts and a black T-shirt.
The RCIPS is investigating this incident, and detectives are encouraging anyone with information to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222. Alternatively, anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS via their Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777 or via their website.
