(CMR) British cruise line, Marella Cruises, has announced that it’s no longer accepting Jamaicans on one of its signature ships, the Marella Discovery 2, which offers tours out of Jamaica.
The decision was made after 17 Jamaican nationals, who were on the Marella Discovery 2, reportedly attempted to abscond in Belize on Monday. Seven people managed to abscond, while some were returned by police to the ship.
TUI UK, operators of Marella Cruises, told the Jamaica Observer:
“Due to operational restrictions beyond our control, we are unable to offer cruise-only holidays out of Jamaica for non-UK residents. All Marella cruise sailings are operating as planned, but we have been required to cancel a small number of individual bookings due to these new restrictions. We apologize for the disappointment caused to these customers and hope to restart selling cruises in Jamaica in the future.”
