(CMR) A US-based newspaper has named the Cayman Islands among the top four safest Caribbean countries to visit in 2023.
Recognizing that the Caribbean is a popular choice for vacation, the Miami Herald encourages Americans to consider their safety before planning where they will visit.
“The safety and well-being of you, your family, and your friends should always be at the top of the list when making your travel plans,” the writer warned.
St Barts, Anguilla, the Cayman Islands, and Martinique were listed as the four safest countries to visit.
The Cayman Islands was number three on the list, with St Barts at number one and Anguilla second.
The writer considered the Cayman Islands one of the safest because we have some of the strictest gun laws of any Caribbean territory or nation. The article stated that this is evident in the low number of licensed gun owners (fewer than 1,000) living in the Cayman Islands.
The writer stated that Grand Cayman is the main island providing luxurious resorts, retail, and entertainment. Cayman Brac is the perfect space for travelers looking to experience adventure and outdoor activities, while Little Cayman is a remote wonderland full of empty beaches and endless rainforests.
According to the article, St Barts is one of the islands or places in the world with a zero-percent murder rate, and it also boasts a below-average crime rate. St. Barts is considered one of the most beautiful and safest islands in the Caribbean.
Anguilla, the writer said, was named one of the safest islands in the Caribbean by the U.S. Department of State. The island is also considered one of the priciest to visit. The island of Martinique, fourth on the list, is said to be tourist friendly and safe for visitors, with petty theft and ATM fraud being the most common crimes. One of the most popular tourist areas in the Caribbean, Martinique’s flourishing cruise ship business brings tourists mainly from France, Canada, and the United States.
