(CMR) A peaceful walk in a retirement home in Fort Pierce, Florida, turned into a nightmare when an alligator attacked an 85-year-old woman named Gloria Serge. The massive 10-foot-long reptile attacked the elderly woman while she was walking her dog.
The terrifying incident was caught on a security video, showing the alligator swimming straight toward Serge's dog before emerging from the water and pursuing it up the slope. The predator then bit the elderly woman's foot, dragging her to the ground before pulling her into the water.
In a frantic 911 call, a neighbor pleads for help, “There's a woman in the water, the alligator's got her! Please hurry! It's a huge gator. It's huge, I don't have anything to give to her.” Sadly, Serge's body was later retrieved from the retention pond while her dog survived.

A team of wildlife experts located the alligator submerged in the pond and hauled it out of the water, with one official sitting on top of the reptile.
The alligator, estimated to weigh between 600 and 700 pounds, was put down by a nuisance gator trapper. Although serious injuries caused by alligators are rare in Florida, the incident has shocked the community.
“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the victim,” said the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in a statement. The tragic event serves as a reminder that even in the tranquil environment of a retirement home, nature can sometimes strike when least expected.
