(CMR) Two men sustained serious injuries on Wednesday, 15 February, during an altercation on the scene of a collision on West Church Street. It is not clear if the fight started before the crash; however, based on police reports, it appeared both men were in the same vehicle.
Reports from the RCIPS are that just after 2:30 pm, police and other emergency services responded to a report of a collision that took place on West Church Street in the vicinity of the West Bay Police Station. It appeared that the two occupants of the vehicle were engaged in a physical altercation and both sustained serious injuries.
Officers attended the location and the altercation between the two men was diffused. The men were rendered first aid by the police officers and officers from the Cayman Islands Fire Service, after which, the men were transported to the hospital by ambulance.
One of the men, a 43-year-old man from George Town was arrested on suspicion of assault GBH. He was later bailed pending further investigation. The other man sustained serious injuries and was detained while he received his medical treatment.
The matter is being investigated by the police.
