(CMR) An argument over a free cookie at a McDonald's drive-thru escalated after a Florida woman brandished a loaded gun at the drive-thru. 24-year-old Amari Bente Hendricks of Altamonte Springs now faces several charges in relation to the incident, according to her arrest affidavit.
According to the police report, Hendricks arrived at the McDonald's on South State Road 434 and demanded a free cookie, claiming she was entitled to it as a member of the fast-food chain's rewards program. When an employee refused to give her the cookie, she became aggressive and started cursing.
The staff eventually gave in and handed the woman a cookie, but the argument continued. Things took a terrifying turn when Hendricks allegedly pulled out a black handgun, loaded it, and threatened the staff. She tried to force her way into the restaurant but was blocked by employees who were concerned for their safety.
However, that did not stop Hendricks, who was eventually able to gain entrance to the restaurant. Once inside, she assaulted a staff member multiple times, and pushed him outside, causing scratches on his face and neck.
Hendricks was pulled over a block away from the McDonald's, where a loaded gun was found on the driver's side floorboards. She was also accused of resisting arrest.
She now faces multiple counts, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, and obstructing an officer.
Hendricks, said to be a fast food manager, was booked in the Seminole County Prison, and a judge set her bond at over $30,000 with additional conditions if she is released. She is forbidden from going back to the McDonald's location and prohibited from possessing any firearms or ammunition. Her case is set to be heard in court.
